| NSC FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions 2010 Q: Do I have to be a member to join you for a ride?
A: Absolutely not. All we ask is that you review our club rules so you know what to expect.
Q: Is it just me, or have there been a lot of updates to the website over the winter?
A: It's not just you, we've been hard at work trying to make your web related NSC experience a good one, click here to see what's new
Q: What is the benefit of being a member of the club?
A: Beyond just battle scars and bragging rights, members get access to member only parts of our website and some local retailers have been nice enough to extend discounts to our members. Being a member of the NSC is also a great way to meet other sportbike enthusiasts in the area.
Q: Tell me a little more about the NSC, what kind of people are in the NSC?
A: The NSC is a diverse group of people who all share the love of the ride. We often marvel at the fact that if it weren’t for the club, we would never have had the opportunity to become friends. Everyone here is very friendly and the atmosphere here just isn’t indicative to egotism or hostility. People who have a chip on their shoulder just don’t fit in here. The best way to find out more on the NSC is to accept our open invitation to join us!
Q: I’m new to riding or recently purchased a bike, can I still join you for a ride?
A: Absolutely. We do ask that before you do so you take a rider training course and be familiar with your motorcycle and capable/comfortable of riding in traffic and mountain roads for an entire day. If you are very new, we suggest that you first join us on a Friday night at Virginia City as the ride is short and it gives you an opportunity to see what riding in a group is like.
Q: What can I expect on a typical Sunday ride?
A: Expect nothing but fun, smiles, camaraderie and lots of twisty mountain roads.
Q: What about other club events, like weekday dinners?
A: We tend to meet during the week for a little socializing. During the summer PJ’s and Co have a bike night and we tend to gather there with the Harley riders to admire the bikes. We still get together during the winter as you’ll quickly find the friendships you form in the club extend far beyond just “riding buddies”. Everyone is welcome to join us.
Q: Do you really wear full leathers on Sunday rides? Even in the summer?
A: You bet. Safety first. Expect riders to wear full one-piece leathers, body armor, back protector, full-face helmet and race quality boots and gloves. We typically wear the same gear on our Sunday rides as we do on the track. AND, yes, even when we go to In-n-Out in Auburn CA when the temperature can climb over 100 degrees, we still wear our leathers.
Q: I see NSC stickers everywhere, where do I get some and how much do they
cost?
A: The NSC stickers you see on peoples bikes are free. Several of our riders carry stickers with them, so just ask around :)
Q: Why was the Nevada Sportbike Club incorporated?
A: The NSC was incorporated for two reasons. First to give us the option for obtaining insurance should be choose to host a track day for the club. Secondly to help alleviate our riders of liability for other peoples actions on our rides. The NSC was not incorporated to “make money”.
Q: If everything is “free”, who pays for it?
A: Some of our members donate time and money to keep the club going. If you get something out of the
NSC, and we hope you will, you can contribute time by helping us organize rides and events, donate money via PayPal or buy something from the NSC store. The NSC store is the only portion of the NSC where the club makes money.
Q: Why can only members post messages to the message board?
A: This is to keep messages on topic and to prevent the “spamming” of the message board by advertisers and to prevent crude or foul messages. The focus of the NSC is having a good time and sharing our passion for
sportbikes.
Q: I own, operate, or work at a business that would like to advertise with the
NSC, can we do this?
A: Yes! We are now accepting sponsors who would like to advertise on our site to
help offset the cost of running it. We will only be accepting local
advertisers or advertisements from club members. If you would like to
advertise with the NSC, please contact james [at] Ridensc [dot] com
Q: I took some pictures on one of your Sunday rides; can I contribute them to the site?
A: Yes! We always welcome rider submissions.
Q: Can join you on a ride and shoot video?
A: Typically, yes. We must insist that before doing so that you do the following:
- Notify/Inform all the riders on the ride that you will be shooting video and what you will be shooting it for.
- You may not sell the video without written consent from all the riders who appear in it.
- If you intend to publish it on your website for free, we must insist that you pixelate all license plates and obtain written consent from the riders.
- As a courtesy, please make the video freely available to the riders.
