About the Nevada Sportbike Club

We ride year round, with organized rides every Sunday from the first weekend in April until the last week in October. We also meet on in the evenings for dinner and club socializing (see message board for details), as well as Friday evenings (during the Summer) in Virginia City for a little Truck Route action.

The Nevada Sportbike Club organizes Sunday rides and social events for the sportbiking community free of charge and you need not be a member to participate. All motorcyclists, regardless of what they ride, are welcome to join the NSC. In 2003 alone over 100 people signed up on the website and became part of the Club and we always strive to make new comers feel welcome.

Our Sunday rides can reach 300+ miles in a day. We have several riders who help lead our rides and help create an atmosphere that is safe yet fun. We’re not your mothers, but we are sticklers about riding responsibly. Expect to see riders wearing the same equipment they do on the racetrack on our Sunday rides. Not because of the speed, but simply for safety reasons.

Our rides cater to experienced riders as well as beginners, several people have purchased their first motorcycle, started riding with our club and have since gained invaluable experience in riding their motorcycle. During the off season many of our riders attend race schools and several riders who started riding recently are putting in very respectable track times. Our more seasoned riders are always happy to share their knowledge and experience – if you don’t know, ask! Part of our passion for sportbiking is seeking personal improvement in our sport.

Sunday rides are a great way to get out and enjoy your sport and meet some fellow enthusiasts along the way. We strive to make Sundays fun for everyone with destinations to a wide variety of Northern Nevada/Northern California destinations with ride routes that are what you want from a Sunday ride, lots of twisties!

We welcome riders from all skill levels and manufacturers. Join us on your Scooter, your Vespa, your Indian, Hog, or Bajaj. Your HondaYamaha, Suzuki, Buell, Moto Guzzi, MV, Aprilia, BMW, Kawasaki, Bimota, Cagiva, Ducati, Triumph or anything with two wheels. Seriously, if you want to join us on a Hog and scrape your floorboards and pipes all day, you're more than welcome. If you loose sight of the riders in front of you, don't feel as if you have to speed up in order to catch up. Ride your own ride, at a pace you are comfortable with - no one will get left behind.

The NSC was started by two long time riding buddies, John and James. They started the NSC because they love to ride and wanted to share that experience with other local riders. Their love of the ride, and commitment to providing a safe yet fun atmosphere was, and still is, the foundation of the Nevada Sportbike Club.

So they set out to provide an organized focal point for local riders to get together, regardless of experience, where they can share and learn from one another, in a safe atmosphere that is indicative to two primary things: riding sportbikes, and having a good time.

And, you know what? It worked.

Since it's inception, the NSC has rapidly grown from a few die hard riders, to a diverse group of sportbikers who all share the love of the ride. We're continually growing and expanding while still maintaining the fun "club" atmosphere.

When you have a love of the ride, and you meet others who share your passion, there is an almost instant sort of kinship that exists between fellow motorcyclists. When you wave at another motorcycle, you don't do so because you may know them, you do so because you do know the passion that you both share. In a club setting, the love of the ride binds people together and fosters friendship and camaraderie. You meet the best people on your motorcycle.

Regardless of manufacturer, or style, or purpose, we all have one thing in common.

We all love to ride.

And that's what the Nevada Sportbike Club is really all about.

Sharing your passion for motorcycling and the camaraderie that it fosters.

The NSC is not a seasonal club, we ride year round. We offer organized rides during the warmer months when doing so is possible, but even when the weather turns gray, we still get together and ride. Why? Simple, because we love to ride.

If you share the love of the ride, regardless of what you ride, please accept our open invitation to join us.

See you on the road!

Sadly, on January 26th 2003, John lost his life in a motorcycle accident. No words can express the loss that we all feel, but on thing is certain, we will continue to ride on in his memory.

John was always the first one to the Sunday ride, and always the last one home. His endless dedication to this Club has created a close knit community of sportbikers who all share the love of the ride and the camaraderie that it fosters.

He may have started a Club, but he left behind a family.

We miss you John!
